A Percussion instrument is sounded by being struck or scraped by hand or by a beater (including one that is attached or enclosed), or struck against another similar instrument.
The use of ear protection during percussion lessons and practice is strongly recommended. Ear plugs and other sorts of protection are available at all good music supply stores or on the internet.
Students can begin to study drums from age six Drum kit classes offer basic training in drum kit playing, music reading and group performance, and can help students develop the skills needed to play in one of the WCSM ensembles (Concert Band or Sinfonia) with confidence. A drum kit is provided for each student during the lessons; a drum set is necessary for home practice if the student is to progress.
